Suvidha (An Electronic Municipal Administration and Municipal Management Information System)

eGovernance in Municipalities

In this Information Age, government information resources are of increasing value to the citizen, businesses, government officers and users around the world. Effective information management is essential for the provision of services to the citizen and businesses, and for the efficient running of the government. With the rapid change in the IT industry, there has been a shift in focus from the traditional inputs of a production process to the processes involved in the creation, storage, dissemination and use of information. An IT-driven system of e-governance works better, costs less, and is capable of servicing citizens' needs as never before. E-Governance aims to make the interaction between government and citizens (G2C), government and business enterprises (G2B), and inter-agency relationships (G2G) more friendly, convenient, transparent and inexpensive. The resulting benefits are a higher revenue growth and reduced costs. With the advent of the Internet, the 'citizen as a shareholder' can now provide several inputs to the government's policy-making process, while the 'citizen as a customer' can demand better services from his government. MAS & MMIS is designed to meet the these challenges.
