The Software Release Records system project is a re-engineering
project that is used by General Motors, USA. It is being
re-engineered from an existing MS Access based stand-alone
system to a web enabled system to work in an Intranet/Internet
based environment providing access to Administrators, Design
Release Engineers, Employees of GM and Resident suppliers
within GM premises and also to suppliers located at remote
locations outside GM.

This system maintains Software Release Information related to
the Modules (e.g. Electronic and Electrical) supplied by GM
suppliers. It allows the users like remote supplier/ resident
supplier etc. to enter the Software Release Records (SRR) for
a supplied module. These SRRs can be viewed / approved by other
users like DRE and Admin. Once approved the software for a
specific module can be tested independently or can be integrated
with other modules to form a configuration/ workbench for carrying
out integrated testing. The system also gives facilities for
generating various kinds of reports on SRRs.
